NOTICE OF SCHEDULE CHANGE
We have discovered, quite by accident, that we have high levels of radon in our building. Radon is a known carcinogen, and long-term exposure is linked to lung cancer and possibly other lung-related health issues.
Due to concerns for the safety of our staff, most of whom have been here for years, and due to uncertainty as to when the exposure began, we have mutually decided, after consultation with our staff and their physicians, to release all administrative and legal staff, scale back our caseload, and adjust our approach to the practice of law by switching to a mostly “virtual office” approach, at least temporarily.
We are attempting building modifications that we hope will reduce the levels of radon, and we have engaged a top-rated radon remediation expert to assist us with reclaiming the airspace in the building. However, it will likely take weeks or months to return the space to safe radon levels.
Therefore, we will be operating remotely, probably for the rest of the year.
This means that:
(1) We are suspending our regular office hours;
(2) We are closing to all walk-in customers/clients;
(3) We are attempting to maintain our existing clients;
(4) We are primarily focusing on Wills, Trusts, and other “Estate Planning” matters, such as elder law, powers of attorney, conservatorships, and the like;
(5) We will also be focusing on assisting executors, administrators, and heirs with probate estates;
(6) We will continue to offer a variety of Trustee services;
(7) We are scaling back our corporate law involvement;
(8) We are accepting representation in only major (i.e., high-dollar) personal injury/death litigation matters; and
(9) We are, at least for now, declining representation in most other litigation matters.
Therefore, our office hours will be limited and by appointment only. Communication by phone and/or email will be the preferred method of exchanging information.
Instructions for Existing Clients
Existing clients should leave a message at (423) 639-6684 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Phone messages and emails will be monitored daily. We can see existing clients inside the building, but only by appointment.
Instructions for New/Potential Clients
For new clients, please either call (423) 639-6684 or email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . When you call or email, it is essential that you leave your name, callback number and/or a good email address, and a brief description of your needs.
Once we have the details of your matter, we will evaluate our ability to assist you. If we accept representation, it may be necessary for us to meet in person at the office at a previously determined appointment time.
DROP BOX
If you have a small envelope or package for drop-off, you can place it in the office drop box. It is located on the brick wall of our building beside the green door at the center of the building.
If you place something in the drop box, please also call the office and leave a message on the answering machine telling us what you have placed in the drop box.
RENT/MORTGAGE PAYMENTS
The drop box area is monitored by security cameras, so payments can be placed in the drop box.
If you place a payment in the drop box, please also call the office and leave a message on the answering machine telling us who you are and what amount you have placed in the drop box. Once the payment is processed, we will send an email “receipt” confirming that the payment was received.
For those who are obligated to make rent and mortgage payments at the office but do not wish to use the drop box, we will continue to receive payments by cash and check, but on a more limited schedule.
For the first (1st) through the fifth (5th) business day of each month, the office will receive cash or check payments twice daily:
- 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
For those who need to make payments outside of these two time frames, you must make arrangements in advance to come to the office at a different time. Alternatively, you can place the payment in a sealed envelope, write your name and the amount of the payment on the envelope, and put it in the drop box.
You can check back at this website for any schedule updates that become available.
